I ♥ Market

Okay, so after two weeks of limited internet, general busyness and self-inflicted exhaustion I am making a determined effort to get back into the swing of things.  A good place to start?  My Saturday morning excursion to the first I Heart Market of the year.   I Heart Market is one of my favourite things about Durban!  On  the first Saturday of every month, all sorts of awesomeness gathers at the Moses Mabhida stadium for the morning.  It’s a haven of yummy food, interesting and quirky jewellery and stylish people!  I went this month with the intention of taking many photos for the blog but with the Durban heat and the busyness of the market means I took a whole 5 photos!  Oh well…good intentions right?  Anyway, here are the pics I did take plus some others from previous markets.

The yummy food…Sardinian Flatbread, Waffles, Meringues and Macaroons.

And no, I did not eat all this on Saturday.  I did taste a raspberry macaroon for the first time though and found it rather nice.

The stall below belongs to local artist Terry Angelos.  She is responsible for my gorgeous Christmas present.

See the bird picture in the bottom left-hand corner? I am suffering from huge regret for not buying it! The perfect mate for my rabbit.

The toys in the pics below were made by Angelica Pelati.  I absolutely love the zombie/day of the dead ones.

Here are the links to some of my other market favourites that I just didn’t get a chance to photograph:

And finally, a pic of the stadium, one of my favourite places in Durban and easily the best stadium to come from the 2010 Soccer World Cup.

PS. Check out the posters from the last three years of I Heart Market here.  They are well worth a look.
